Language Arts

On a daily basis we will focus on several word work (phonics), comprehension, and writing lessons that coincide with the Fundations, Journeys and WriteSteps programs. Throughout these lessons we will acquire and strengthen several skills including:

Decoding

Blending

Story structure

Narrative writing

Opinion writing

Character analysis

And much, much more!

Additionally, children will be involved in guided reading groups. These reading groups will receive a book to share each night in their reading bags. You may see the same book several nights as we continue to boost our reading fluency and automaticity.

Math

Our class utilizes i-Ready to guide our mathematics instruction. Within this program, there are two components:

1.) The Personalized Learning Pathway--This is catered specifically to the needs of your child. They will explore this independently during technology time.

2.) The i-Ready workbook and curriculum component which guides our daily lessons. We will explore the bulk of this material through our daily lessons either as a whole group or in small group stations.
